It is hard to believe that we are already into Week 2 of Term 2. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm, and engagement in learning by the students returning to school last week. The excitement and fun being had in the playground was also a joy to observe. It is terrific to see students wearing their school uniform with pride. Thank you to families for ensuring that uniforms are being worn as this assists with the overall identify of our school community.
As I mentioned in our whole school assembly, held last Friday, we are in for another busy term. Over the next fortnight, events to be held are the Mother’s Day Stall, Year 3/4 excursion to the Tamar Wetlands, Year 1/2 excursion to the Hagley Farm School, Cross Country and National Walk to School Day. Also, a team of students that qualified to participate in the State Athletics Carnival 2025 will attend the event at the St Leonards Athletics Club this Friday 9 May. We wish them the best of luck.
ANZAC DAY
It was lovely to be among the students and families marching in the ANZAC Day Parade held during the school holidays. They represented Beaconsfield Primary School with pride demonstrating great respect for the importance of the occasion. Well done to our school student leaders Holly and Millie who delivered the student address with great confidence and clarity. Also, to Ethan who assisted in laying the wreath on behalf of the school community.
National Walk Safely to School Day
This year, Walk Safely to School Day takes place on Friday May 16. It is a national event that involves primary school children being encouraged to walk to school safely. This day was established by the Pedestrian Council of Australia. Walk Safely to School Day was first held in New South Wales in 1999 and later became a national event in 2004. This day aims to develop exercise routines for children, promote increased intake of nutrient-dense diets, and cause a positive environmental action by decreasing carbon emissions from driving to school. The key aim, however, is to familiarise young children with road safety rules.
